She is the 2nd dog to run up in this video. She bite's at the heifer as she runs by.
Possum in the steer pen with Bently as a puppy. I can use her when needed and down her when needed. Possum will stay downed while I work and talk to the puppy. If the steers get on the fence or the puppy needs a little encouragement, I can 'up' Possum until the steers are positioned again.
Possum is our only unregistered dog. We have no plans of selling her because of how we use her in the training pen. She is great at working calmly in pasture situations and also when working with a pup on the steers. When the pup gets enough confidence to work alone, I will whistle at Possum and she will 'down.' I never like to give the command 'down' to one dog and not expect the other to listen, even if we haven't taught them what down means. This allows me to communicate with both dogs in a different manner. When the pup gets older and starts going with the group, we will teach them what the whistle means and expect them to down.
Possum is a great head dog and is always working to keep the herd grouped and controlled. She prefers the head but can be called to the rear of the herd and will heel, too.
